Mexican exports of irradiated fresh produce grew by 30% in 2020
Mexican exports of fresh irradiated produce to the U.S. grew by 30% in 2020. The fresh products had been irradiated for phytosanitary purposes.
The quantities shipped grew to 27,034 tons according to the General Directorate of Plant Health of Mexico. Most of the growth arose from the mango sector exports. Guavas remain the most irradiated export item. Oranges and mandarins are now included on the list of 11 types of produce that may now be irradiated.
