Yves Henon retires from Board of iia

After a long career in the irradiation industry, which commenced in the 1970’s, Yves is now endeavouring to fully embrace retirement and is stepping down from the iia board with effect from 30 April 2024.

Yves’ contribution to our industry and to the development and evolution of the International Irradiation Association was recognised in 2019 when he was made an IMRP Laureate. During his career Yves has worked for organisations that have included Gammaster, Isotron and the International Atomic Energy Agency. Yves was IMRP Program Chair for IMRP 19 In Strasburg and IMRP 20 In Bangkok and has led many initiatives and provided advice and guidance to many in our community. Having started his career in irradiation in the 1970’s Yves provides a valuable connection with many of the pioneers of our community and was therefore well placed to write Radiation Processing Industry – The Early Years – a history which might otherwise soon be lost. Whilst his interests and knowledge are both broad and detailed, Yves can add a particular perspective on the ups and downs of food and phytosanitary irradiation. Yves joined the iia board in October 2021 as he transitioned away from operational involvement after IMRP 20 (Nov 2022).
