Rapid Analyser for Dose Mapping

Nuctech recently convened a conference to evaluate methods of improving the quality control associated with electron beam irradiation processing. The conference was held in Jintan, Jiangsu, China the home of Nuctech’s high tech manufacturing and training facility between the 17 and 19 September 2019.

Nuctech was founded in 1997 as a result of scientific research undertaken by Tsinghua University with whom the company retains strong links. Nuctech provides advanced security and inspection solutions and is a leading technology equipment supplier. Nuctech has achieved a leading international presence with customers from 160 countries around the world. The company is a manufacturer and supplier of multipurpose electron beam irradiation systems such as the IS1020 E-beam irradiation system.

As reported at IMRP19 Nuctech have developed a system which provides rapid analysis for dose mapping. The system analyses the mass-thickness of materials using X-ray technology and calculates the anticipated doses for a given process energy. The resultant analysis provides in both numeric and visual formats on the dose distribution throughout the product, so also the maximum and minimum doses and the DUR.

The new analyser system is part of the Nuctech RA Series of equipment and is known as the RA100100 Rapid Analyser. It is designed to provide real time mass thickness and dose mapping data in any part of the scanned image over an energy range of 1-20 MeV including a single and double-sided irradiation analysis.

Whilst the system will not replace routine dosimetry it provides a valuable modelling and analysis tool and can be used to enhance security and routine operational monitoring. The first operational system has been installed on a reference site near Shanghai that operates two Nuctech 10 MeV 20 KW accelerators.
