Risø High Dose Reference Laboratory joins iia
The iia is pleased to welcome Risø High Dose Reference Laboratory as its newest member.
Risø High Dose Reference Laboratory – HDRL – operates within the Technical University of Denmark, offering measurement and calibration services to the radiation processing industry worldwide. Risø HDRL is accredited by DANAK according to EN/ISO 17025 and is appointed Designated Metrology Institute.
Our dose measurements with traceability to the national standards at NPL, UK is the basis for ensuring correct irradiation of sterilized medical devices. We carry out irradiation facility characterization for IQ and OQ and Performance Qualification dose mapping in accordance with EN/ISO 11137. Monte Carlo 3D dose calculations support the dose mapping measurements. We provide dosimeters for routine monitoring of delivered doses.
Several hundred participants have over the years attended the Risø Courses on Validation and Process Control for Electron Beam Sterilization and for Low Energy E-beam Radiation Processing.
Research and development mainly as collaborative projects with external partners has lately focused on methods for obtaining measurement traceability for dosimetry at low energy (80 – 200 keV) electron irradiation, but also dosimetry at low energy x-ray is investigated.
