OPG licence amendment application for production of cobalt-60

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) is conducting a hearing on OPG’s licence amendment application for the commercial production of cobalt-60 at their Darlington reactors.  As part of this routine process, CNSC invites comments on the application.  The iia has submitted comments in support of the licence amendment based on the growing and long term need for sterilisation of medical devices by gamma irradiation using cobalt-60.
