I.FAST Challenge Based Innovation Project 2023

I.FAST (Innovation Fostering in Accelerator Science and Technology) recently ran their annual student challenge, exploring environmental and societal applications of accelerator technology.

The Challenge Based Innovation (I.FAST-CBI) project gathered 24 students from across Europe to attend ten days of high-level seminars on accelerators their environmental applications. Presenters included Rob Edgecock (iia General Manager Eb/X) and Andrzej Chmielewski (former member of the iia Board). On the final day of the Challenge, teams of students were asked to suggest potential new applications and present their project to experts in the field. The winning project proposed applying particle accelerators to treat textile waste. Further details of the 2023 edition of I.FAST-CBI can be found at this link.
