Arthur Dumba
iiaGeneral Manager | SwitzerlandArthur has extensive experience of the irradiation and healthcare industries. As a microbiologist, he joined Isotron (now part of STERIS) where he was involved in regulatory affairs and quality assurance. After leaving Isotron, his experience with sterilisation technologies led to him becoming a sterilisation consultant supporting various medical device companies across Asia, Europe and the USA with sterilisation processing and radiation dosimetry. Additionally, Arthur has been the driving force behind the creation of the Society for Sterility Assurance Professionals (SfSAP). Arthur joined iia in July 2023, and now leads the operational team as General Manager.
Rob Edgecock
Eb/X and PsIPGeneral Manager | United KingdomRob brings experience of academia and accelerator science to the iia. He has been co-ordinating the Leadership Program and is deputy chair of the IMRP 2024 Program Committee. Rob is also leading the Eb/X Working Group and, from January 2024, is involved in the Phytosanitary Irradiation Platform (PsIP). Alongside his role with iia, Rob is Professor of Accelerator Applications at the University of Huddersfield, and is involved in a number of pan-European projects. His main personal interests are in the applications of electron beams, particularly in the environmental area.
Martin Comben
General Manager iia Gamma Working Group | United KingdomMartin manages the iia Gamma Working Group that undertakes specific projects and various advocacy activities in support of the gamma irradiation industry. Prior to joining the iia, Martin spent over 20 years working in various international business roles within the irradiation industry. He has extensive knowledge of the gamma irradiation industry as well as the operational, technical and regulatory environment surrounding the use and handling of cobalt-60 sources.
Wei Peng
iiaChina/Asia Representative | Beijing, ChinaPeng Wei has extensive experience and knowledge of the irradiation industry having worked with Prof Wang at SQHL and more recently as Managing Director of Vanform (accelerators). He is a partner in a new irradiation support company in China. His primary role is supporting iia’s relationships with members and partners in China. He has experience of all irradiation technologies and is based in Beijing, China.
Thomas Kroc
iiaUnited States Representative | United StatesThomas retired in 2024 after 35 years at Fermilab. During that time, he combined education and experience in nuclear engineering, accelerator physics, and medical physics to become an expert in accelerator-based sources of radiation for industrial applications, particularly the sterilization of medical devices. Until his retirement, he lead Fermilab’s effort to develop a compact, superconducting accelerator capable of providing electron beams of hundreds of kilowatts to provide megacurie equivalent X-ray beams. He continues to lead an annual workshop on medical device sterilization through his position as Scientist Emeritus at Fermilab.
Gill Schneid
iiaFinance and Administration Manager | United KingdomGill has supported iia since 2014 with a focus on finance and membership administration where she has many years’ experience, having worked in this field for over 15 years. Gill is the first point of contact for any membership and financial enquiries i.e. new member requests, membership levels/certificates, invoicing and account queries, Members Directory management including additions and amendments to company profiles and sub-accounts.
Katherine Comben
Executive iia & PsIP Communications | United KingdomKatherine joined the team in 2023 to strengthen iia communications and engagement with members. Katherine is responsible for implementing the iia’s communications plan, updating the websites, producing newsletters, organising webinars, and managing and producing content for social media. A key aim is ensuring consistent branding across the iia’s platforms. Katherine is working to ensure clear, effective, unbiased messaging. She is creative, responsive, and always aims to keep up to date with communications technology.
Paul Wynne
iiaChairman | United KingdomPaul has been Involved in the irradiation industry since 1987 and held senior operational roles at Isotron (now part of Steris) where he was CFO. Operational roles included the building of gamma facilities in Malaysia, sterilisation facilities in China and as a Regional CEO (Synergy Health). A founding director of iia in 2004, Paul was General Manager 2011 – 2023 and iia Chairman 2019 to present. In his operational role he focuses on providing financial and operational support to Arthur Dumba (iia General Manager). He is a director of SfSAP (2021 – Present).
