Review of IMRP 2024

The iia is pleased to announce the publication of its review of the 21st International Meeting on Radiation Processing (IMRP 2024). This innovative and successful meeting was hosted by the iia and held at the Costa Rica Convention Center, San José, Costa Rica on November 4-8, 2024. The theme for IMRP 2024 was ‘Irradiation Technologies – Available, Sustainable and Growing’.

A record number of abstract submissions were received, allowing the program committee to construct a program that was of great interest to the audience. The core IMRP 2024 programme was made up of sessions about the business of radiation processing, applications, sustainability, science, innovation, education, leadership development and regulation. This was supplemented with a pre-conference workshop, ‘Tech Theatres’, panel discussions, networking events and an industry exhibition.

This document can only capture some of the meeting’s content. We hope that readers will find it to be a valuable summary of the meeting and a reflection of the state of radiation processing in 2024.

The iia thanks all contributors to this document, including the session Chairs and Moderators who provided a summary of their sessions and panel discussions for this publication. Some of the summaries supplied may have been modified slightly for clarity and impartiality.
