What research does the radiation processing industry need?

The iia is supporting the 5th International Conference on Ionizing Processes to strengthen our links with research and academia, and to help students understand the range of applications and career opportunities within the radiation processing industry.

We would also like to use the conference as an opportunity to understand where industry sees gaps or opportunities for future research.

You can review the titles of the abstracts submitted for the conference here. The first 14 relate to reactors, but not to cobalt production or use. The following abstracts cover electron beams and pulse radiolysis, before moving into medical applications.

While there is some relevance to radiation processing, there is an opportunity to strengthen the connection between academic research and the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.

What basic research or early-stage development work would you like to see being carried out?
