Blue Flag Sustainability Certification
IMRP is pleased to announce its goal of achieving the Blue Flag Sustainability Certification, representing our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of the conference and promoting sustainability in all aspects of event planning and execution. We invite all participants to actively engage in our sustainability initiatives which can be found below and at the IMRP 2024 website.
Implemented Sustainability Measures to Date
Eco-friendly venue: The Costa Rica Convention Center is a sustainable venue, located close to the airport and recommended accommodation.
Sustainable Conference Materials: Including eco-friendly swag, reduced size of printed materials, and signage printed in recyclable materials.
Catering and Waste Reduction: Local, sustainably sourced ingredients are to be used whenever possible, and quantities will be carefully planned to avoid food waste. Single-use plastics are to be avoided.
Energy Efficiency: The venue is equipped with energy-efficient lighting systems, encourages the use of low-power appliances, and electrical equipment will be powered down when not in use.
Waste Management and Minimal Signage: Attendees and exhibitors are encouraged to minimise paper use through digital solutions, utilise recycling stations for proper waste sorting, and the venue will use only biodegradable cleaning products.
Carbon Offsetting Initiatives: As part of our sustainability compensation initiatives, 50 trees will be planted in Cachi, Cartago, and a shoreline clean-up will be conducted at Playa Ganado.
