IMRP 2024 Earns Blue Flag Sustainability Certification
The iia and IMRP 2024 organisational team are proud to have achieved the Blue Flag Sustainability Certification. Receiving this certification means that the event has adhered to sustainability guidelines, representing the commitment to reducing the environmental impact of the event.
Sustainability was prioritised during all aspects of the conference organisation, and various measures were taken at the event to ensure proceedings were environmentally responsible.
Sustainability initiatives implemented before or during IMRP 2024 include:
- Eco-Friendly Venue: Certified LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) venue with water conservation, waste management, and close airport proximity to cut travel emissions.
- Water Stations: Drinkable water fountains available to reduce plastic waste.
- Sustainable Materials: Eco-friendly swag, signage printed on recyclable materials, and attendees encouraged to have exhibition booth signage printed locally to reduce emissions from shipping.
- Local, Sustainable Catering: Locally-sourced ingredients, careful planning to prevent food waste, and no single-use plastics.
- Energy & Waste Efficiency: LED lighting, low-power appliances, recycling stations, and biodegradable cleaning products.
- Carbon Offsetting: 50 trees planted in Cachi and beach cleanup at Playa Ganado to help offset event and travel emissions.
