iia to highlight industry collaboration at ICARST-2025
The iia will be participating in the Third International Conference on Applications of Radiation Science and Technology (ICARST-2025) to be held at the IAEA Vienna, 7-11 April 2025. The purpose of ICARST-2025 is to provide a comprehensive review of significant developments in applications of radiation science and technology; assess global initiatives for implementing proven industrial applications of radiation science and technology; provide a platform where representatives from industry and academia can develop new initiatives; and chart a clear-cut pathway for the adoption of radiation technologies to achieve specific Sustainable Development Goals.
Martin Comben, iia General Manager of Gamma Irradiation, will be presenting ‘Industry collaboration to enhance the security and sustainability of radiation processing’. This will highlight the work of iia’s Gamma Working Group that, through industry collaboration, has been able to publish industry specific guidance and best practice on physical and cyber security, and contribute to the development of an innovative new security system. The presentation will also highlight the importance of sustainability and the work of the irradiation industry towards the sustainable operating practices that were discussed at IMRP 2024 under the theme of ‘Irradiation Technologies – Available, Sustainable and Growing’.
The iia also expects to take the opportunity of ICARST-2025 to announce 2 new areas of collaboration that will support both the development and the sustainability of radiation processing.
