CNSC amends OPG’s operating licence to authorise the production of cobalt-60 at Darlington NGS

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has announced the decision to amend Ontario Power Generation’s (OPG’s) power reactor operating licence for the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station (NGS) to authorise the production of cobalt-60.

The licence will be amended to include production of cobalt-60 and other activities associated with this production.

OPG intends to produce Co-60 in all four reactor units at the Darlington NGS.

The iia is listed as an Intervenor as it submitted a letter of support to CNSC for this licence amendment.
