Updates from the ASTM Committee E61 on Radiation Processing meeting

From May 5–7, Thomas Kroc represented the International Irradiation Association (iia) at the E61 on Radiation Processing Committee during ASTM’s Committee Week in Toronto.

This committee publishes standards relating to radiation processing, including areas such as dosimetry, qualification of irradiators, and dose mapping. Key topics discussed during the sessions included the Standard Guide for Operational Qualification of Accelerator-Based Electron Beam Irradiators and the Standard Practice for Electron Beam Radiation Processing at Energies Between 300 keV and 25 MeV.

Dr. Kroc also volunteered to serve as Vice-Chair of ASTM E3083, Standard Terminology Relating to Radiation Processing: Dosimetry and Applications, highlighting the iia’s commitment to supporting the industry through the development of clear terminology and robust global standards.
