The Aérial – Technology Resource Centre- offers applied research programs in the field of radiation processing, such as polymers, medical devices, pharmaceutical products, food and including the detection of irradiated foods. Aérial is known worldwide through its developments of validated process control tools. AerODE and AerEDE dosimetry equipment is based on both optical and EPR dosimeters.

Aérial has an experimental irradiation facility with an electron accelerator and 5 highly capable laboratories including an accredited dosimetry lab, microbiology lab, physical-chemistry, sensory analysis and experimental freeze drying labs. Research and development studies are conducted with universities, research centres and mainly with private industrial companies.

ANSTO (The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation)

The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO ) is the centre of Australia’s nuclear science capabilities and expertise. ANSTO operates cobalt-60 irradiators for small scale irradiation studies to a wide range of doses and dose rates. Our unique capabilities enable us to accurately deliver high doses of radiation with a precision not achievable in industrial-scale irradiators.  Controlled dose rates and temperatures allow users to test ideas, develop applications and perform irradiations under non-standard conditions.  Our capabilities facilitate research in diverse areas such as Food Biosecurity, Agriculture, Horticulture, Life Sciences, Radiobiology, Material radiation hardness studies, National Security, Immunology, Healthcare, Medical sciences and Biotechnologies.  ANSTO manufactures and calibrates radiation dosimeters for use in monitoring doses in high dose irradiation applications.  These reference standard dosimeters can provide traceable calibrations for routine dosimeters used by any provider of gamma irradiation services worldwide.

Apar’s Uniflex Cables Division is a leading manufacturer of Electrical & Telecommunication cables in India and has been serving its customers since the year 1981 with its wide range of cables. Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology (BRIT)

Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology (BRIT) is a unit of Department of Atomic Energy, headquartered at Navi Mumbai. It has been leading the resurgence of isotope applications and radiation technology across industry, healthcare, research and agricultural sectors in India.

It is actively pursuing setting up of Co-60 based radiation processing plants in the country. Chapman University is a highly reputed private University located in Southern California.  The Food Science program was founded in 1989.  For over two decades, faculty have established expertise in various aspects of food irradiation ranging from fresh produce to ready-to-eat foods.  At present, our focus is on evaluating the effect of irradiation on the quality of fruit treated by irradiation for insect disinfestation with the ultimate goal of eliminating global trade barriers by reducing the threat posed by invasive pests.  The objectives of our USDA funded research are to:

E-BEAM Services, Inc. is a leading supplier of contract electron beam processing, with more than 700 kW of installed accelerator capacity. Incorporated in 1985, E-BEAM has processing facilities in Lebanon Ohio, Cranbury New Jersey, and Lafayette Indiana, USA. They are ISO 9001:2008 certified, and the Ohio and New Jersey facilities are registered with the US FDA as contract sterilization providers for the Medical Device and Pharmaceutical industries.

The Ohio location has two high-capacity 5 MeV accelerators with handling systems capable of processing on cart conveyors in addition to continuous in-line equipment for wire, cable, tubing, and sheet products. The New Jersey location has two high-capacity accelerators, 4.5 MeV and 5 MeV, with similar conveyor and in-line handling systems as Ohio. We are one of 67 institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Europe’s largest applied research organization. The Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Beam and Plasma Technology FEP is located in Dresden and focuses on developing technologies and processes for surface modification and organic electronics.

Our core technologies are sputtering technology, plasma-activated high-rate deposition, high-rate PECVD, and electron beam technology, which we use to develop surface technology solutions for various industrial tasks.

The deposition of individual layers and multilayer systems and the processing of surfaces are of huge practical importance for many industries. Harwell Dosimeters

Harwell Dosimeters manufacture dosimeters exclusively for the radiation processing industry. The most popular type, which includes the long-established Red 4034, is a radiation-sensitive poly-methylmethacrylate (pmma) produced as optically transparent pieces, individually sealed in uniquely labelled and bar-coded aluminium foil laminate sachets. These dosimeters darken when irradiated, and the radiation-induced darkening, accurately measurable by means of a spectrophotometer, is a function of the radiation dose absorbed. Accurate dosimetry enables radiation processing facilities to ensure the minimum dose requirements are met while not exceeding the maximum dose specifications of the product.

The Harwell range also includes alanine dosimeters, offered in three formats. They are available either as plain, preconditioned pellets; blister-packed, as RadSpinTM dosimeters; or strip packed as Tape Tab.

Created in 1966 by Professor Jerzy Kroh as a teaching & research unit belonging to the Faculty of Chemistry of Lodz University of Technology, the Institute of Applied Radiation Chemistry (IARC) provides education to students as well as other members of academic community and participates in research and science development. In order to fulfill its role in education the Institute faculty members deliver lectures, tutorials and laboratory classes for the following courses: physical chemistry, radiochemistry, radiation chemistry & technology, photochemistry, spectroscopy, information technology, computer science, molecular modeling, polymer science, biophysics, biochemistry and nanotechnology.

Research activities include experiments, simulations and computational studies on various aspects of fundamental and applied radiation chemistry, photochemistry, spectroscopy, biochemistry, biophysics, radioisotopes, chromatography, physical chemistry of polymers and biomaterials. Application-oriented activities are focused on synthesis and sterilization of polymer-based biomaterials, photodynamic therapy, spectroscopic methods of cancer diagnostics, new therapeutic compounds based on pyridinium salts, radiation monitoring and application of isotope methods in industry.

IARC provides also semi-industrial scale irradiation services (gamma and electron beam), offers possibilities of performing a broad spectrum of physical and chemical analyses using modern equipment operated by highly experienced staff, as well as consultant services.

Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology

The Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology (INCT) was established in 1983. It had been formerly operating since 1955 as the Chemistry Division of the former Institute of Nuclear Research.

The Institute has an interdisciplinary character. The activities of the INCT include basic research, R&D as well as various services. The results of the INCT works have been implemented in various branches of national economy, particularly in industry, medicine, environmental protection and agriculture. Since the early sixties the Institute has played a leading role in developing and implementing nuclear technologies, methods and instruments in the country. Nowadays the Institute is one of the most advanced centres in the field of: radiation chemistry and technology; application of nuclear methods in material engineering and process engineering; design and production of instruments based on nuclear techniques; radioanalytical techniques; environmental research. Basic research is focused on: radiochemistry, chemistry of isotopes, physical chemistry and engineering of separation processes, cellular radiobiology and radiation chemistry, particularly that based on pulse radiolysis method. Nowadays with its nine electron accelerators in operation and with the staff experienced in the field of electron beam application, the Institute is one of the most advanced centers of science and technology in this domain.

The Institute is listed in the I Category, Scientific Institutions Group in accordance to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Scientific Council has rights to grant D.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in the field of chemistry, and the Institute carries out third level studies (doctorate) in the field of nuclear and radiation chemistry. In 2008 six Ph.D. diplomas were granted.

The Institute has four pilot plants equipped in six electron accelerators: for radiation sterilization of medical devices and tissue graft, for radiation modification of polymers, for removal of SO2 and NOx from flue gases and for food hygenization.

The Institute is composed of three centers: Centre of Radiation Research and Technology, Centre of Radiochemistry and Nuclear Chemistry, Centre of Radiobiology and Biological Dosimetry and seven laboratories: Laboratory for Measurements of Technological Doses, Laboratory for Detection of Irradiated Food, Laboratory of Nuclear Control Systems and Methods, Laboratory of Stable and Environmental Isotopes, Laboratory of Nuclear Analytical Methods, Laboratory of Material Research, Pollution Control.

WuXi El Pont Radiation Technology Co. Ltd, is based in WuXi a city located near Shanghai, China. We develop and manufacture electron accelerators in the 0.5-10 MeV range and conveyors.
