PANEL Explains Dosimetry Uncertainties

The Panel on Gamma and Electron Irradiation has some excellent publications available to the general public on their website. One very useful document is the “Discussion Paper on Uncertainties in Routine Dosimetry for Gamma and EB Plants.

Anyone who has listened to dosimetry experts can understand why this is an important, but often poorly understood, topic. This paper clearly explains the issues and provides a framework for understanding the different contributions to the observed variations in routine dosimeter readings and to suggest ways of estimating their magnitudes. It includes background information on the selection and placement of routine dosimeters and references for additional guidance.
