China Isotope and Radiation Association (CIRA)

The China Isotope and Radiation Association (CIRA), founded in April 1989, is a non-profit organization composed of enterprises, companies, institutes and individuals that are in the business of managing, manufacturing or using isotope and radiation.

The CIRA is under the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense of the People’s Republic of China. Its administrative authority is the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). Its current chairman is Mr. Yang Changli.

The CIRA is organized in several committees CIRA, including the Radiation Processing Professional Committee (chaired by Mr.Zhao Wenyan) and the Isotope Professional Committee (chaired by Mr.Fan Jihong).

With more than 200 members across 28 provinces and autonomous regions, CIRA is a nation-wide professional network. CIRA estimates that China has in total around 110 gamma irradiators (design capacity greater than 300 kCi) and 140 EB machines (greater than 500  keV).
