Aerial designated as an IAEA collaborating center
Aerial was designated as an IAEA collaborating center for Multidisciplinary Applications of Electron Beam and X ray Technologies and Related Dosimetry, especially for Food Irradiation. A ceremony was held at Aerial on 6 October 2016 during which the plaque was remitted to Alain Strasser, General Manager, by Mrs Nathalie Colinet of the Department of Nuclear Applications of the IAEA.
The ceremony was attended by a representative of the association and several iia members. The FEERIX project (Faisceau d’Electrons Et Rayonnement Ionisants X) was presented. Based on a Rhodotron producing separate beams of electrons and X ray, the facility will be used for research and development and for training in conditions similar to commercial configurations. The equipment is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
